Welcome to Rainbowchair
I could tell you that the origins of Rainbowchair came after hours, even days, of serious thought and contemplation. I could also tell you that we finally settled on “Rainbowchair” because “we” are much like a rainbow: many different colors (or people) coming together to make something amazing, or at least something that a select few have found to bring a little meaning to their life, just as a rainbow has been believed to bring, whether it be a promise from God or a pot of gold. I could even say we got the “chair” part of our name because you, our viewers and authors, are being encouraged to take a seat in our Rainbowchair, and see the world as we see it or more importantly, as we don’t, and contribute to this little slice of life we have chose to devote some of out time to. Because all of those things would make sense, and make some of you inspired or think how clever we were, or lame or cheesy. Regardless, it would invoke some sort of response out of you, one that would be unfair ask none of those things are quite the reason the name was chosen. It was much more simple, much less thought-provoked and much more spontaneous, but that is unimportant, at least for now.
What is important is who we are, and what we plan on accomplishing with this little blog. We are not one person, not many, but not one either. We are small group of friends who out of boredom and combined interest have come together to talk about the things that we care about, to make things that make us laugh – in the hope that someone, somewhere, shares and appreciates the humor and entertainment we have to offer and to write stories we have always been afraid to write, until now.
We have chosen to remain anonymous as anonymity elevates what we are doing to a pride-level we would never be able to achieve by stamping our namesake on all of the things we have decided to share. We’re not embarrassed by the work we do here; on the contrary, we are more proud of this work than the work we have penned our names all over. We also all have jobs and lives that would probably not appreciate the entire context of what this blog is offering, and we would be fools not to acknowledge that.
Rainbowchair is not about singularity; a rainbow is never admired for being exceptionally red, or emanating the most beautiful blues. A rainbow instead, holds people in awe much out of a person’s inability to pinpoint what it is that makes it amazing. Not a single color, for example, but all of the colors coming together, melting into one another to become the next; that makes a rainbow such an inspiring image to behold.
We are not doing this for recognition as much as we are for self-fulfillment and hopeful potential viewer enjoyment and participation. The goal behind Rainbowchair is to encourage everyone who visits to contribute. Everyone can become a writer and everyone can become critic, analyzer, historian, storyteller or just an all-around bull-shitter because heavens to Betsy, we are some of thee best bull-shitters you will ever get to know but probably never meet.
So look around, “take a seat in our rainbowchair,” if you will, and let us know what you think. Not all of it will be for you. Hell, not all of it is for me; that’s why I decided not to tackle this project alone, but with the help of the people who are both the most similar, and most different from myself. If you really like what you see here, tell us, ask us to contribute to an existing section. If you don’t like us, REALLY tell us, suggest a new section to discuss, and take the initiative to help us make this site better.
We are Rainbowchair.
